Almost every first conversation I have with an airport, transportation or logistics operator begins with the same question:
“What does your dashboard look like?”
It is a reasonable question. But for many large operators, the more important question is not what another vendor’s dashboard looks like. It is whether the data can flow securely and reliably into the systems they already use.
That distinction has shaped how we build Agereh.
Why we chose not to build another dashboard
After decades of developing tracking, monitoring, sensing, and communications technologies, I have learned that no single interface will work for every customer.
One operator wants a detailed view filled with operational data. Another wants only a few key indicators. Different departments want different layouts, alerts, reports, and workflows.
A vendor can spend years trying to build the perfect dashboard and still never create one that reflects how each customer actually operates.
More importantly, many airports and transportation organizations already have their own operational platforms, digital twins, building management systems, or enterprise applications. Adding another standalone dashboard often creates one more login, one more data silo, and one more system their teams must manage.
So we made a deliberate decision at Agereh:
The customer controls the interface. We supply the data and analytics.
Our focus is on producing accurate, reliable operational information and making it easy to integrate through a clean, well-documented API.
What we learned from major airports
I remember an early conversation with one major North American airport serving tens of millions of passengers each year.
Their team asked what our dashboard looked like and how they would configure it.
I explained that we were not asking them to adopt another vendor-controlled interface. We would provide structured data and analytics from our sensors, the API commands required to access it, and the support needed to integrate that information into their existing environment.
They were not disappointed. They were relieved.
The airport already had an internal engineering team developing a digital twin of the facility, with gates, concessions, jetways, and other operational areas mapped and modelled.
They did not need another dashboard competing for screen space.
They needed dependable data that could flow directly into a system they already owned, understood, and trusted.
In their environment, an operator could select a jetway within the airport model and see how many people had moved through it over a defined period. The visualization was built to the airport’s requirements. Agereh’s role was to provide the underlying operational data that made it useful.
That is exactly how the relationship should work.
The intelligence is not the display
The value of operational intelligence is not determined by the appearance of the screen.
The value is in the quality, accuracy, timeliness, and usability of the data underneath it.
A dashboard may present the information, but the intelligence comes from what the data allows the operator to understand and act upon.
Can passenger movement information improve gate planning?
Can occupancy and microclimate data support more efficient building operations?
Can asset-location information reduce the time employees spend searching for equipment?
Can door activity identify whether concessions or operational areas are open when they are expected to be?
Those outcomes matter more than the colours, charts, or layout of a vendor’s interface.
Dashboards still have a role. But for many sophisticated operators, the most effective interface is the one already connected to their workflows, systems, and decision-making processes.
Designed for the operator’s environment
Thirty years of building hardware and communications technologies—at RCA/GE, AT&T/Lucent/Bell Labs, and now Agereh—has taught me the same lesson repeatedly:
Products survive real-world deployments when they are designed around the operator’s requirements, not the vendor’s desire to control every part of the visual solution.
That is how we are building Agereh.
We provide privacy-first sensing, reliable operational data, analytics and APIs designed to integrate with customer-owned platforms, digital twins, and enterprise systems.
The customer owns the interface, built to its requirements.
We provide the data that makes it intelligent.
